Craig F. Reagor was born and raised in Jacksonville and Palm Valley, Florida. His mother and father introduced him and his older brother to fishing at an early age and they spent countless hours surf fishing for whiting and bluefish in the north Florida surfline.
The St. Johns River was five minutes away for largemouth bass and they gigged flounder and fished off every bridge crossing the Intracoastal Waterway. They also discovered the wonders of night fishing off Mather's Bridge on Merritt Island with cane poles and strips of white sheet to attract sea trout and reds. "I guess we were fly-fishing and didn't know it," Reagor says. "I always thought it odd that all the other teenage boys didn't have a permanent crease across their chest like we did. Ours was from endlessly hanging over bridge railings."
His grandmother's ever-present blank sheets of paper and endless supply of pencils and crayons introduced him to art. He's drawn and painted ever since.
"I was partially educated in the Duval County public school system," Reagor says. "And in the U.S. Air Force, at Florida Junior College and the University of North Florida. I continued my education at the Colorado Institute of Art and completed my formal education in the first graduating class of The Florida Keys Fly Fishing School in 1989. My life hasn't been the same since".
"I've been fortunate to have traveled to the far reaches of Earth in pursuit of various species of fish. Atlantic Salmon in Russia, Trout in New Zealand, Bonefish in Mexico, the Bahamas, and Belize. Billfish in Costa Rica is next.
"I'm the proud husband of artist wife, Wendy (check out the first illustration in the Redbone Cookbook) and father to Stephanie, 21 and Courtney 18. My greatest achievement to this date is that both girls love to fish and draw."
